Open Day display of colourful Force life

Dick Lee and Lionel Lam show the Open Day souvenirs

Police Open Day 2000 will introduce the public to three major areas of Force life they may not be entirely familiar with - training, service and leisure. This is what Director of Operations Dick Lee Ming-kwai said at a press conference promoting the event, on October 19.

Mr Lee said while the public was familiar with police duties in the area of upholding the law, the November 25 and 26 event would give people a top opportunity to sample these other sides of Force life through exhibits, games, demonstrations and other fun and exciting activities. Organised by the Force and the Community Chest, the event at the Police Training School, is their first joint venture.

"Serving the community has long been the Force's objective, and the Open Day is particularly meaningful as the proceeds of the sales of admission tickets and souvenirs will be donated to the Chest to benefit over 140 Hong Kong charities," Mr Lee said.

Assistant Commissioner (Support) Lionel Lam Kin said the Day will include drama and demonstrations from specialist units, a wushu spectacular, and 27 formations will erect displays of their work. Limited-edition souvenirs of Police Jackie Chan figurines and a Force motorcycle will also be available. Call 2866-6149/91 for ticket and souvenir sales enquiries.
