Zulu graduation plus PTU safety and health drive

CP Eddie Hui gets a token from C PTU Ng Man-kim

Commissioner Eddie Hui Ki-on officiated at the evening passing-out parade of the Police Tactical Unit's Zulu Company on October 5.

The Company completed 12 weeks of intensive training on basic tactical skills, internal security, anti-crime operations, fitness and use of firearms. Mr Hui congratulated the company and had dinner with them in the PTU Officers' Mess.

The Company has started its 30-week attachment to Hong Kong Island Regional Headquarters.

Meanwhile, PTU Headquarters held its Occupational Safety and Health Week September 18 to 22, bolstering the working environment for staff and training Companies.

PTU Commandant and Deputy, Ng Man-kim and Kevin Woods, along with other senior officers, scrutinised entries in a poster-design competition before Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) Cheung Chi-shum presented the trophies.

Although PTU HQ has treated occupational safety and health seriously over the years, a more systematic approach would further enhance the standard and a Safety Committee was established in April to examine these issues. After the education and promotion stage, risk identification, analysis, reduction, review and evaluation would follow to enhance work safety and health while simultaneously achieving high working efficiency and the training objectives.
