POLICE in brief

Project X trainee graduates at Lingnan University with RC NTN Ng Wai-kit

Some 350 youngsters and their parents participated in Sau Mau Ping District's Fighting Youth Crime and Charity Concert, November 5 at Ngau Tau Kok's Lok Wah Community Centre.

The Society for the Rehabilitation of Offenders' Community Education Services Section helped SMP DIST organise the event to raise juvenile crime and soft drug abuse awareness. A guest performer from the Fringe People Group, a reformed criminal, shared his experiences with the youngsters through songs and stories of advice and warning.

SMP District Commander Tony Au Yiu-kwan officiated at the event, along with the Kwun Tong Fight Crime Committee's Tang Siu-chi, along with the SMP Junior Police Call's Honorary Presidents.

  • Kwun Tong and Tseung Kwan O Divisions, along with the Kowloon East Regional Crime Prevention Office held a vehicle theft awareness drive and seminar on November 28, at KT Police Station. KT and TKO Divisional Commanders Yuen Yan-wai and Choi Yuk-kwan, and Kwun Tong and Sai Kung District Fight Crime Committees distributed anti-crime leaflets at carparks and stolen vehicle blackspots in the district before conducting the seminar.

  • Some 22 Lingnan University students, who successfully completed training courses on crime and youth services under Project X, were presented graduation certificates at a ceremony in Tuen Mun on December 4.

The students will soon start working as volunteers in the three-year-old scheme that provides guidance and support for Tuen Mun youths.

New Territories North Regional Commander Ng Wai-kit, Tuen Mun District Commander Au Hok-lam, Lingnan University President Professor Edward Chen, and the Tuen Mun District Fight Crime Committee's Lau Ip-keung officiated at the ceremony at the University.
