PSRC panorama to promote fitness

Two top new fitness facilities were recently opened at the Police Sports and Recreation Club, one sporting panoramic views of the pitch and the other decorated with a cyber theme.

Promoting the Force's Healthy Lifestyles campaign, the new Fitness Gallery and Fitness Room were opened December 4 and November 27 respectively. Just upstairs from the indoor sports hall, the gallery features the latest cardio-fitness equipment such as running, stepping, rowing and cycling machines, all before a giant window overlooking the grass pitch. The cyber-look Fitness Room was constructed to take over from the previous exercise facility that was renovated for other use. It features, literally, a tonne of heavy new equipment for weight lifters and body builders to pump iron.

PSRC Assistant Manager, Senior Inspector Fung Ngai-man said: "The Room is equipped with TVs and hi-fi systems to make exercise more fun. And large mirrors on the walls allow users to monitor their muscle movement during exercise, and ensure their postures are correct to avoid injury. Plus there are plenty of the latest fitness magazines."

SIP Fung said only Fitness Room members could gain entrance to it, and they had to pass a basic physical assessment and test to ensure their familiarity with the proper use of the equipment.
