PPRB's replies to the media

A letter was sent to a Chinese-language newspaper refuting its February 14 report alleging the Force was tightening political supervision. The letter said there was absolutely no plan for the Force to strengthen Security Wing to monitor political activities.

  • An English-language paper was sent a letter responding to several letters regarding the hazard of exploding tyres on expressways and unroadworthy vehicles. It said officers would remain vigilant against these problems and continue vigorous enforcement.

  • Another Chinese paper was sent a letter after it alleged on February 4 that a Police Public Relations Branch spokesman had declined to give a written answer regarding a case. The letter stressed that a reporter from the paper had asked PPRB about the case and a PPRB duty officer gave a verbal reply. The reporter was also told no press release would be issued on the case. At no time was a request made for a written answer.
