North Point scoops service quality prize

North Point Division was first runner-up (Large Team) in the Civil Service Bureau Quality Service Enhancement Award.

They received the prize during a ceremony at City Hall on March 5, at which Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Harry Blud and North Point Divisional Commander Elsie Wong Mui-kit were presented a trophy by Acting Chief Executive Anson Chan. A host of guests including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Management) Dick Lee Ming-kwai and Eastern District Commander Paul Hung Hak-wai, also attended.

Some 75 teams from 30 departments took part, with their service quality, morale and cost-effectiveness being assessed from late 1997 to 2000. Ms Wong said the award was highly encouraging, and that officers' team spirit, compassion and understanding were key to good customer services. NP Station Sergeant Wong Kwok-hung, one of the co-ordinators of the DivisionŐs Customer Service Improvement Project, attributed their success to measures implemented since October 1997.

"With a newly-renovated report room, upgraded facilities and a simplified reporting procedure, we can provide better and more efficient services to the public," SSGT Wong said.
