Tai Po treat for disabled kids

Ten Tai Po Division volunteers visited mentally handicapped children for a day of fun and companionship on February 10.

The Division's recently formed Volunteer Service Team, visited the kids at Hong Chi Little House, Hong Chi Pinehill Village, to play a host of games with them, such as quizzes, ring-tossing and posy making. They also did a little singing and dancing, with the officers presenting toys and gifts to the young participants. The officers were joined by their family members, the Division's civilian staff and Auxiliary officers.

TP Divisional Commander Monica Lo Suk-ching said: "The Team aims to further enhance the Force's relations and communication with the community. It also gives the officers a chance to play an active role in the community in their spare time by taking part in some meaningful voluntary work and helping those in need."

Chief Inspector Andrew Sin Wai-kwan added: "Through voluntary service, members of the public are able to come into contact with officers outside their day-to-day police work, which also helps promote the Force's image." The Team's organiser and co-ordinator, Woman Inspector Jacqueline Tam Wing-sze said: "The visit was very meaningful as we could show our care and concern for these children, and we all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon. As police officers, our duty is to serve the community. Taking part in voluntary service is not only a good way to help others in need, but it is also a healthy activity for our leisure time."

The visit was a huge success with the facility's social workers warmly thanking the Team for their time and thoughtfulness.
