PPRB's replies to the media

Letters were sent to two Chinese-language newspapers regarding their reports published on May 31, on accommodation costs for the Commissioner and his delegation during their visit to Nanhai. The letters said Mainland authorities had arranged the accommodation and the letter also clarified the accommodation costs of the officers.

  • A letter was sent to another Chinese paper refuting its reports on June 3 that Police were ignoring gambling dens and drug activities near Yau Ma Tei Police Station. It outlined the number of raids, arrests and seizures carried out in May since patrols had been enhanced in the past six months to tackle the problems.

  • Letters were sent to four Chinese papers and a television station correcting their reports about the drowning of a female illegal immigrant off Sai Kung on May 30. It clarified that Marine officers found the body floating offshore when they arrived at the scene and that investigations were continuing.
