Summer youth crime concert

D OPS Ng Wai-kit and officiating guests open the I Have a Future - Anti Drugs and Fight Crime Concert in Ngau Tau Kok

Director of Operations Ng Wai-kit kicked-off the Summer Anti-youth Crime Campaign at Fukien Secondary School in Ngau Tau Kok on July 7.

The Hong Kong-wide campaign was a joint initiative run by all Regions and the Police Public Relations Branch.

Officiating at the campaign's launching ceremony, the I Have a Future - Anti Drugs and Fight Crime Concert, Mr Ng said the Hong Kong-wide summer holiday campaign comprised of sport competitions, seminars and a host of other educational and recreational activities, aimed at disseminating fight-crime message to the youths. He said gullible youths might fall prey to criminals or be used by them to commit offences, adding that Police and society should be especially concerned about summer job traps, abuse of psychotropic drugs, links with triads and participation in soccer betting.

"Police are determined to further enhance co-operation with various sectors, especially in strengthening our partnership with parents and teachers to solve problems so our youths will recognise various criminal means and stay away from crime," he said.

The concert was organised by Sau Mau Ping District and the Kwun Tong District Fight Crime Committee with local community organisations and schools to enhance youth awareness of crime and drugs.
