Police uplift Eastern kids

Hit the heights: Eastern kids participate in the Optimistic View of Life Campaign

Police want to nurture good and healthy values in Hong Kong's youth, said Eastern District Commander Paul Hung Hak-wai.

Speaking at the "Optimistic View of Life Campaign" Phase III prize presentation ceremony on July 12, Mr Hung said that besides law enforcement, Police had to co-operate with other government departments and community organisations to help youngsters enshrine an optimistic view of life. The campaign aimed to help the 40 participating secondary school students to learn to respect their teachers, understand the hazards of triads and drugs, and build team spirit through participation in various activities.

It was jointly organised by Eastern District, the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong (Chai Wan Centre) and Shue Yan College, and sponsored by the Eastern District Fight Crime Committee, Eastern District Junior Police Call Activities Committee and the Happy Valley Rotary Club. Knowing the students had been through hard times, Mr Hung urged them to uphold a tenacious spirit in facing future challenges and hoped they would spread the message to other youngsters.
