Super shooters commended

Force shooters were the big winners at the 2001 World Police and Fire Games in June, taking three gold, three silver and four bronze medals in individual and team shooting events.

Three of the four prize winners - Police Constable Ng Yan-kit and Woman Police Constables Wong Tung-nei and Lui Siu-chong, are members of the Kowloon East Emergency Unit. They were commended by Acting KE Regional Commander Kevan Cooper during his visit to the KE Operational Base on July 11.

WPC Wong said one of the most unforgettable competitions was the Police Action Pistol (Team) event during which the three EU KE officers formed a team with EU Kowloon West WPC Chan Tak-ni.

The competition comprised four parts. During one they had to stay in a car and, in turn, run to a wall to shoot three targets outside its windows. Their team was the fastest, completing the event in less than a minute. They all hit the targets, winning applause and cheers from spectators.

WPC Wong said their accurate and agile performance was the result of hard work during routine Force training. Although they did not win a medal in the event, she was greatly pleased with their outstanding performance.
