PPRB's replies to the media

A letter was sent to a Chinese-language newspaper clarifying its article, published July 16, on the arrest of a wanted person at the KCRC station in Hung Hom. It was emphasised the Auxiliary Police Constable helping Immigration officers arrest the suspect had not drawn his revolver as had been erroneously reported.

  • Another Chinese paper was sent a letter on July 13 dismissing suggestions Auxiliary officers were more liable to risks amid what it alleged was a deteriorating law and order situation. The letter clarified Auxiliaries played more of a community-service role in its policing, and refuted claims of worsening crime.

  • A letter was sent to the letters page of an English-language paper saying the Force was concerned about a letter from a reader it ran on July 13, which said some "uncaring" officers had left a bad impression on visitors. The Police letter urged the writer to contact the Airport District Commander about the case so it could be followed up. It reiterated the Force's commitment to quality service, care and compassion.
