IP Chan's speedy recovery

Inspector Chan Sze-ki: eager to return to work

Kowloon East Regional Crime Unit Inspector Chan Sze-ki, who sustained a serious gunshot wound to his head in a police operation in Tai Kok Tsui in 1992, underwent high-risk brain surgery in Kwong Wah Hospital on August 17 this year. The operation, part of ongoing medical treatment IP Chan has been receiving, was deemed a success.

Speaking to journalists on August 20, IP Chan expressed his thanks to doctors and nurses at the hospital and expressed his wish to get back to work as soon as possible. Doctors expected IP Chan to be well enough to leave hospital in two weeks' time.

Deputy Commissioner Management Dick Lee Ming-kwai, accompanied by Kowloon East Regional Commander Mak Man-poon and Personnel Services Branch officers, visited IP Chan both before and after surgery on August 16 and 20 respectively.

Mr Lee attributed IP Chan's recovery to the meticulous care by hospital staff as well as the optimistic attitude and strong will of IP Chan himself whom he believed would recover fully in the near future enabling him to, once again, resumed his duties serving both the community and the Force.
