Acknowledging the efforts of the Training Wing in effectively providing first-aid training for members of the Force and upgrading their qualifications over the last two years, Australia's Victoria University of Technology Paramedic Science Course Co-ordinator Jonathan Field presented a letter of appreciation to Assistant Commissioner Training Yip Kwok-keung at Training Wing Headquarters on August 16.

Two years ago Victoria University of Technology and Hong Kong Police reached an agreement whereby an officer holding a Hong Kong-approved first-aid certificate may apply for a first-aid certificate valid for three years and issued by the university through endorsement of the First Aid Training Division of Training Wing at their own expense. The certificate is also approved by the Australian Government under the Occupational Health and Safety Ordinance.

Some 200 officers of the 1,500 holders of Hong Kong-approved first-aid certificates have now obtained the certificate from the university.

For further details regarding applications for issuance of the certificate, please contact Acting CIP FA & PED Stephen Ma Chak-wa at 2814-4229 or 9194-3625.
