Deputy Commissioner Operations Douglas Lau Yuk-kuen showed his strong support for frontline officers by observing some night spots in Kowloon East and Kowloon West Regions on September 8.

Accompanied by KW Regional Commander M Stradmoor and the Regional Special Duty Squad, Mr Lau first observed street level vice activities in Mong Kok and Sham Shui Po.

He then proceeded to a large dance venue in Kowloon Bay in the company of KE Regional Commander Mak Man-poon, absorbing the atmosphere and observing the activities of youngsters there.

Mr Lau also visited popular dance areas in Yau Ma Tei and Tsim Sha Tsui in the presence of KW Regional Anti-triad Unit.

"Tonight's experience has enriched my understanding of the situation and difficulties faced by our frontline officers implementing anti-crime operations in these areas. Fighting street crime and the abuse of psychotropic substances among youngsters are two of the Force's top priorities and we fully support frontline officers in these operations," stressed Mr Lau.

KW Senior Superintendent Crime Ip Wai-keung said they had discussions with Mr Lau during his visit, adding that frontline officers fully understood the Force's priorities in fighting crime and would take rigorous action to attain the goals.
