Probe into fire in Sham Shui Po

Police are investigating a suspicious fire in which a 76-year-old man died and a 73-year-old man was injured in Sham Shui Po this (January 7) morning.

At about 9 am, Police received a report that a fire broke out at a residential unit at 3A Pei Ho Street.

Police officers and firemen arrived at the scene and evacuated the residents of the building.

After the fire had been put out, the 76-year-old man was found injured inside the toilet. He was rushed to Kwong Wah Hospital where he was certified dead at 10 am.

Another 73-year-old male resident sustained slight injuries and was sent to Caritas Medical Centre. He was discharged after receiving medical treatment.

A post-mortem on the deceased will be conducted on Monday (January 9) to ascertain the cause of his death.

The Divisional Investigation Team of Sham Shui Po is investigating into the cause of the fire.
