Fatal traffic accident in Ngau Tau Kok

Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 37-year-old woman was killed in Ngau Tau Kok today (May 30).

Shortly before 12 noon, Police received a report that a private car fell into the sea at the old Kai Tak Airport. Upon receiving the call, Police officers were immediately deployed to the scene to investigate.

After initial enquiries, it was revealed that the private car was travelling along the airport runway of the old Kai Tak Airport towards a golf club at the time of the incident and accidentally fell into the sea while the driver was parking the car.

The 37-year-old driver was trapped inside the compartment after the impact and was rescued by the firemen while the 52-year-old female passenger reportedly swam out from the compartment. The duo was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where the driver was certified dead at 12.45pm.

Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East are proceeding.
