Special traffic arrangements for public meeting on June 4

Police will implement special traffic arrangements in the vicinity of Victoria Park to facilitate the holding of a candle light vigil at the park on June 4 (Sunday) evening.

The following traffic arrangements may be implemented in phases between 6 pm and midnight depending on the traffic and crowd situation:

Phase I
-------

A. Road Closure

(1) Great George Street (a section west of Paterson Street will be closed at 4 pm);
(2) A section of Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Great George Street;
(3) A section of westbound Kingston Street between Paterson Street and Gloucester Road; and
(4) A section of southbound Gloucester Road between Causeway Road and Gloucester Road. Traffic from Victoria Park Road Flyover will be diverted to westbound Gloucester Road Service Road.

B. Road Diversion

After the phase one road closure is implemented, the following road diversion will be implemented:

(1) Traffic along southbound Paterson Street will be diverted to turn left onto eastbound Kingston Street;
(2) Traffic along southbound Cleveland Street will be diverted to turn left onto eastbound Kingston Street; and
(3) Traffic along northbound Tai Hang Road Flyover will not be allowed to turn left onto Kingston Street.

Phase II
--------

A. Road Closure

The road closure arrangements in phase one will be implemented and the following roads will be closed:

(1) Sugar Street will be closed. The public light bus stand will be suspended temporarily and traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street will be prohibited to turn into Sugar Street;
(2) Cleveland Street;
(3) Paterson Street;
(4) Tai Hang Road Flyover may be closed. Traffic along Tai Hang Road downhill will be diverted to Tung Lo Wan Road;
(5) A section of Hing Fat Street between Causeway Road and Lau Li Street will be closed, except for franchised buses and maxicabs. Traffic on westbound King's Road and eastbound Causeway Road will be diverted to Tung Lo Wan Road, westbound Causeway Road and eastbound King's Road; and
(6) A section of Electric Road between Lau Sin Street and Yacht Street will be closed to traffic, except vehicles heading for Park Tower.

Suspension of carpark
-------------------------
Hing Fat Street Carpark will be suspended between 4 pm and midnight except parking spaces for the disabled.

Suspension of taxi stand
----------------------------
The taxi stand at Paterson Street will be suspended.

The following arrangements may be adopted if crowd movement and vehicular traffic in Causeway Bay Shopping area are heavy:
(1) Traffic on Great George Street cannot turn left to Gloucester Road, except for vehicles heading for the Park Lane Hotel; and
(2) Members of the public leaving Victoria Park via the exit opposite to Great George Street will be directed to Gloucester Road.
