Appeal for indecent assault victims to come forward

Police today (June 15) urged members of the public who have been indecently assaulted in Yuen Long but have not reported to Police to come forward.

The appeal was made after Police arrested a 27-year-old suspect in Yuen Long this morning.

At about 7.50 am on June 8, 2006, a 19-year-old woman was walking on the second floor of Sun Yuen Long Commercial Center. A man approached victim face to face and bumped onto her. Victim did not make a report that day.

At about 7.30 am on the next day (June 9), victim met the culprit again in the same location. The culprit approached victim in the front and bumped onto her again. A report was subsequently made to the Police.

After extensive investigation, officers of Task Force, Yuen Long arrested a 27-year-old man suspected to be in connection with the two cases on a passage in Sun Yuen Long Commercial Center leading towards KCR West Rail Yuen Long Station at about 7.45 am today. Initial enquiries suspected that the man was also connected with some other indecent assault cases in Yuen Long areas.

Investigations by Divisional Investigation Team of Yuen Long are proceeding.

Police urge anyone who has been victimized but have not yet reported to Police to contact the investigating officers at 2473 8338.
