Police arrested three men aged between 27 and 31 for trafficking in dangerous drugs this (August 25) morning.

The Narcotics Bureau commenced an intelligence-led operation since July 2006 and later identified the mastermind and his principal members of an Ecstasy trafficking syndicate.

The operation turned overt today when the syndicate was about to conduct a transaction of Ecstasy. Three men believed to be the principal members of the syndicate, aged between 27 and 31, were respectively arrested in Tsuen Wan and Tsing Yi.

A total of 20,000 tablets of ecstacy were seized during the operation. The haul could fetch about $1.66 million if sold in the local retail market.

The trio are still being detained for enquiries.

Investigations by Narcotics Bureau are continuing. Efforts are being made to locate another member of the syndicate.
