Fatal traffic accident in Aberdeen

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Aberdeen this afternoon (September 8) in which a 56-year-old man was killed.

At about 12 pm, a motorcycle driven by that 56-year-old man was travelling along Island Road towards Aberdeen while a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 61-year-old man was travelling along Island Road towards Deep Water Bay. When reaching a left bend after the Ocean Park, the motorcyclist reportedly lost control of his vehicle that subsequently had a head-on collision with the HGV.

After the impact, the motorcyclist was found lying injured on the ground. He was then rushed to Queen Mary Hospital but was certified dead at 2.09 pm.

Investigations by Special Investigation Team of Traffic Hong Kong Island are proceeding.
