Crowd Management measures for firework display in TST

Police will implement special crowd management measures in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) area to facilitate members of the public to view the National Day firework display on October 1 (Sunday).

The southern part of TST district will be designated as pedestrianisation zones starting from 6.15 pm in phases according to the traffic and crowd situations.

The eastbound carriageway of Hung Hom Bypass flyover will also be closed to traffic at about 8 pm for the public to view the firework display. The westbound carriage of Hung Hom Bypass and Salisbury Road will be closed for use by emergency vehicles only. In addition, southbound Chatham Road South, southbound Kowloon Park Drive and the unnamed road leading from Austin Road West to West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade will also be closed for emergency vehicles only.

Members of the public can also view the fireworks display on the waterfront of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Avenue of Stars, the waterfront at TST East and West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade.

Public carparks located at West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade will be closed during the road closure period. Public are urged to take public transport to the West Kowloon Waterfront Promenade to view the firework display.

Members of the public are advised to pay attention to the following points:

* For the sake of safety, please take heed of Police instruction when crowd control measures are being taken place.

* There are several construction sites in the area of HK Cultural Centre leaving limited places for the public to view the firework display. Public can choose other places and in all circumstances public should refrain from entering those construction sites for safety's sake.

* Due to construction works in the Kowloon Public Pier, spaces available for the public to view the firework display are limited and the area is expected to be packed with spectators. Public are advised to use other public piers. Police will closely monitor this area and will temporarily closed the pier if situation warrants for public's safety.

* There are a number of road works in Tsim Sha Tsui while there are deep ditches and dangerous equipment in the construction sites. Wire nets or planks are installed to surround the dangerous places and members of the public are urged not to climb or lean against these nets or planks. In addition, they should not try to pass through the construction sites.

* Before the designation of Salisbury Road as pedestrianisation zone, public can make use of the pedestrian crossing at the junction of Salisbury Road and Canton Road to cross Salisbury Road. Alternatively, public can also make use of the crossing at the junction of Nathan Road and Kowloon Park Drive as well as the pedestrian tunnel outside New World Centre.

* Emergency car exits are designated for the safety of the public so that emergency services can be provided in a timely manner. Public are reminded not to enter those exits.

* As for public safety, crowd control management measures will be implemented at TST MTR and TST East Rail exits when situation warrants.

* Don't run in crowded places.

* Members of the public should report to Police if there is any emergency and should comply with the instruction of Police officers at the scene.
