Traffic arrangements for race walking in Central

Police will implement special traffic arrangements in Central to facilitate a race walking on April 15 (Sunday).

A. Pedestraianisation:

The following traffic arrangements will be implemented between 2 am and 11.59 pm:

1. Chater Road between Pedder Street and Jackson Road;
2. Ice House Street between Connaught Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central.

B. Road Closures

The following traffic arrangements will be implemented between 7 am and 12 noon:

1. Eastbound Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Queensway, tram services will be maintained normal;
2. Ice House Street between Queen's Road Central and Des Voeux Road Central except access to Landmark Carpark;
3. Eastbound Queensway between Des Voeux Road Central and Murray Road;
4. The most right lane of southbound Murray Road between Chater Road and Queensway; and
5. Westbound Chater Road between Murray Road and Jackson Road.

C. Road Diversions:

The following traffic arrangements will be implemented between 7 am and 12 noon:

1. All vehicular traffic from eastbound Des Voeux Road Central will be diverted to northbound Pedder Street;
2. All vehicular traffic will be prohibited to enter northbound Ice House Street from Queen's Road Central except access to Landmark Carpark. Vehicle leaving the carpark will be diverted to use the junction of Ice House Street and Queen's Road Central and proceed further to westbound Queen's Road Central;
3. The northern section of Chater Road between Murray Road and Jackson Road will be re-routed from eastbound to westbound; and
4. All vehicular traffic from Club Street will be diverted to westbound Chater Road.

D. Restrictions on Long Vehicles

1. Vehicles exceeding seven meters in length on westbound Connaught Road Central will be prohibited from making left turn into Club Street except access to Ritz-Carlton Hotel; and
2. Vehicles exceeding seven meters in length on Lambeth Walk will be diverted to Murray Road.

E. Suspension and relocation of Bus Stops

The following bus stops will be suspended or relocated between 7 am and 12 noon:

1. All bus stops along eastbound Des Voeux Road Central between Queen's Road Central and Pedder Street will be suspended;
2. All bus stops along Eastbound of Queensway between Queen's Road Central and Murray Road will be suspended.
3. All suspended bus stops along the race route will be relocated to Easterbound Connaught Road Central outside Jardine House and City Hall; and
4. All buses will be prohibited to use the re-routed westbound Chater Road.

Drivers are urged to take heed of traffic signs and the direction of Traffic Police at scene.
