Three arrests for theft of containers

Police arrested three men, aged between 38 and 47, for stealing ten containers containing scrap metals from a container depot in Cheung Sha Wan on April 1.

The case was reported to the Police on April 2 by a 32-year-old man of a victimized company that their company failed to collect two of the ten containers, which were stored in the container depot in Hang Wah Street West, Sham Shui Po.

Police investigation revealed that several truck drivers using release orders bearing the forged company chop of the victimized company and some counterfeit documents have already collected the ten containers, worth about $7 million on April 1.

Officers from District Crime Squad of Sham Shui Po follow up the case and arrested the three suspects in Cheung Sha Wan and Pat Heung respectively on April 11 and 12.

Police have also located a quantity of stolen scrap metals in Kam Tin, Pat Heung.

The three suspects arrested for theft and handling stolen goods are still being detained. Two of them will be charged later today with theft. The two defendants will appear in Kowloon City Law Court tomorrow (April 14)

Police appealed to member of the logistics and transportation industries not to received suspicious orders or assignments to handle container transportation.
