Update on missing girl located in Shenzhen

Initial enquiry by Police revealed that no suspicious circumstances were detected in the case in which the 10-year-old girl was reported missing in Yau Ma Tei on May 28 and located yesterday (May 29).

The girl, Tai Chi-kwan, was brought to a tutorial centre in Yau Ma Tei by her grandfather at about 3.20 pm on May 28. The girl's family was later informed by the tutorial centre that Tai Chi-kwan did not turn up at the centre. Her family then made a report to the Police.

Police and the girl's family immediately conducted searching in the vicinity trying to locate the missing girl. Later, the girl's mother found at home at 3.30am yesterday (May 29) that the girl's China Re-entry Permit was missing and informed the investigating officers accordingly.

Police's checking with the department concerned confirmed that the girl had left Hong Kong via Lowu Control Point at 5.03 pm on May 28.

She was located at 11.45 am yesterday when wandering at a shopping mall in Shenzhen.

Initial enquiry revealed that the girl went to the Mainland alone by train. While travelling on the train, she chatted with a woman whom she met on the train. The woman parted with the girl when they entered into the Mainland.

The girl was escorted by the investigating officers back to Hong Kong last night. She sustained no injury and no suspicious circumstances were detected.

Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon West is still following up the case.
