Fatal traffic accident in Sha Tin

Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sha Tin in which a 54-year-old woman was killed today (June 9).

At about 11.43 am, a taxi driven by a 59-year-old man was travelling on the first lane along the northbound carriageway of the retractable paddock roof in Sha Tin Racecourse. When reaching the area near the retractable roof, it reportedly knocked down the 54-year-old woman who was crossing the road from the left.

Sustaining serious head injuries, the 54-year-old woman was rushed to the Prince of Wales Hospital where she was certified dead at 12.09 pm.

Investigations by the Special Investigations Team of Traffic, New Territories South were proceeding.
