Seven Police Force offices to join five-day week

All emergency and essential services provided by the Police Force will remain unchanged when seven public service counters of the Force join the Five-Day Week initiative next month.

Starting July 1, the Closed Area Permit Office, Complaints Against Police Reporting Centre, Central Traffic Prosecutions Division Public Counter, Licensing Office, Criminal Conviction Data and Certificate of No Criminal Conviction Office, Force Armoury and the Shroff Office at Police Headquarters will be closed on Saturdays.

"The opening hours of the counters will be extended during weekdays and there are alternative means of service provision, including acceptance of applications by post, fax or drop-in boxes, to ensure that the same level of public service will be maintained," a Police spokesman said.

Applicants would also be encouraged to make advance booking by telephone for some services, added the spokesman.

Details are available on the Police Five-Day Week webpage at http://www.police.gov.hk/hkp-home/english/pprb/5days.htm and the Government's dedicated website at http://www.gov.hk/info/5day/. Members of the public can also call the Police Hotline at 2527 7177 or the 24-hour Citizen's Easy Link at 1823.
