Man charged with burglary

Police today (August 1) charged a 57-year-old man with one count of burglary.

Following investigation by Regional Crime Unit of Kowloon East, the man was arrested on July 30 in Hing Wah Estate, Chai Wan in connection with a series of burglary cases which occurred from June 16 and July 23 this year in 10 different housing estates in Kowloon East Region,

The modus operandi of the burglary case is the burglar to follow other residents into the building first. He then proceeded to one of the upper floors, cut the window frame in the corridor and climbed to the victim's flat through the corridor window. The total value of stolen property amounted to about $100,000.

Following extensive investigation, RCU of Kowloon East identified a 57-year-old man who was intercepted and arrested on July 30 when attempting to commit burglary in Hing Wah Estate, Chai Wan.

The defendant will appear in Kwun Tong Magistracies' Courts tomorrow (August 2).
