Man charged with assault on Police officers

Police today (August 11) charged a 45-year-old man with one count of assault on Police officers and one count of possession of offensive weapons.

The man was arrested after he attempted to attack police officers with a chopper, a dagger and a baton when the officers were deployed to handle a report in which a drunk man was reportedly hurting himself in a unit of Wah Lok House, Wah Fu Estate on the night of August 9.

A Police Sergeant opened three shots to subdue the man when the latter attacked the Sergeant with a chopper and ignored three verbal warnings issued by Police.

The man will appear in Eastern Magistrates' Courts next Monday (August 13).
