Murder in Shatin

Police are investigating a murder in which a 19-year-old man was killed on Tai Chung Kiu Road in Shatin last night (August 11).

At about 11.40 pm, a 30-year-old male security staff of a hotel on Tai Chung Kiu Road made a report to the Police that someone was injured at the hotel.

Police sped to the scene and found a 19-year-old man lying unconscious at the staircase. Sustaining multiple cut wounds on his chest, back and hands, he was certified dead by ambulancemen at scene.

Another 20-year-old man, who sustained injuries to his head, neck, hands and abdomen, was also located at the staircase. He was sent to Prince of Wales Hospital for treatment.

Two knives were found at the staircase.

Initial enquiries revealed that the deceased was a friend of the 20-year-old man. He paid a visit to the latter, who rented a room at the hotel, earlier yesterday. It was suspected that they had a dispute and put up a struggle at the room. The 20-year-old man chased after the deceased and attacked him at the staircase.

The 20-year-old man was arrested for murder and he was admitted at the hospital.

A post-mortem on the deceased will be conducted on August 13 to ascertain the cause of death.
