A record number of 100 security companies were honoured with the Security Services Best Training Awards (SSBTA) 2017 in a presentation ceremony at the Police Headquarters on March 20. Among the companies, 58 were presented with the Gold Award, 23 with the Silver Award, 12 with the Bronze Award and seven with the Merit Award for their efforts in enhancing the professional competence of their staff.

The SSBTA scheme has been co-organised by the Crime Prevention Bureau and the Vocational Training Council (VTC) since 2010. Officiating at the presentation ceremony this year were Director of Operations Tang Ping-keung, Senior Assistant Executive Director of VTC Ms Gladys Yam and Vice-chairman of the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority (SGSIA) Mr Stephen Yip. Nearly 250 representatives of the security sector and police districts attended the event. Ms Yam thanked the Force and the security sector for their support.

A selection panel, comprising representatives from the Force, VTC and SGSIA, assessed the resources allocated by the participating companies for training last year. The selection criteria included the scope of training courses, the number of staff members attending the courses, the number of training hours and the support of the management.
