CPB & VTC upgrade standard of security industry

The Crime Prevention Bureau (CPB) and Vocational Training Council (VTC) coorganised the 2021 Security Services Best Training Award (SSBTA) Presentation Ceremony at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Haking Wong) on January 16. Director of Operations (D OPS) Chan Joon-sun, Chairman of VTC Security Services Training Board Mr Yip Chun-nam, Chairperson of Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority (SGSIA) Ms Jane Curzon Lo, and Assistant Executive Director (Acting) of VTC Mr Tang Wai-hung officiated at the ceremony, with the attendance of representatives from various Regions and the security industry.

It was the 12th Presentation Ceremony of SSBTA. A total of 137 awards comprising 71 Gold, 43 Silver, 10 Bronze and 13 Merit Awards were presented this year. The award panel was formed by representatives from the Force, VTC and SGSIA. They assessed the investment made by participating companies in training, including the number of training hours, the number of staff trained, the scope of training courses, and the participation in and support offered by the management to the training program in the previous year.

In his remarks, D OPS commended the award-winning companies for developing actively continuous training programmes which provide security personnel with various training opportunities for them to assist the Force more professionally and effectively to keep the community safe. The security industry welcomes the support from the Force and VTC, and will keep upgrading the training standard of the security industry.
