“2014-2015 Kowloon East Best Security Services Awards Presentation Ceremony” was held at PSRC on 13 October and officiated by RC KE Duncan McCosh, ACP. Presenting the awards were Chairman of the Security & Guarding Services Industry Authority, Mr. Daniel CHAM Ka-hung, BBS MH, JP; President of The HK Association Property Management Companies Ltd., Mr. TAM Kwok-wing; Chairpersons of Kwun Tong, Wong Tai Sin and Sai Kung Fight Crime Committees; and District Commanders of WTS, SMP, KT and RAILDIST.

In the ceremony, being the 10th year, 419 awards were presented, in which 130 property management representatives were presented with Outstanding Partner and Best Partner Awards, 228 with Outstanding Security Guard Awards and 61 with Best Security Guard Awards. Two gold, one silver and one bronze awards were presented to the winners chosen from the 61 best security guards. The two gold award winners were Mr. KWAN Wai-man and his colleague, Ms CHAU Mei-yee. In the early morning of 31 May last year, they assisted police in identification of the gunman by providing valuable information whilst they were on duty at Kai Ching Estate, Kowloon Bay. They were also applauded for their professionalism and leadership fully displayed in controlling the flow of residents and swiftly making flexible manpower deployment to facilitate the police to make arrest.

The award presentation forms part of a crime prevention initiative of KE Region – Public Rental Housing Estate Access Control Project – to enhance access control of visitors, remain alert and prevent burglaries in public housing estates. Speaking at the ceremony, RC KE ACP Duncan McCosh expressed heartfelt gratitude to all awardees for their outstanding performance in helping police fight crimes; extended sincere thanks to all security services companies, property management companies and relevant organizations for their support, contribution and close collaboration with the police in crime prevention for making Hong Kong one of the world's safest and stablest societies.

KE Region hoped that the election would further motivate all stakeholders in the industry to upgrade their security standard in private housing estates, car parks and shopping centres etc.
