Special Arrangement in Times of Tropical Cyclones and Rainstorms

Information

1. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or Higher

If Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or higher is issued outside office hours, services at the Office will be suspended while the warning signal is in force.

If the warning signal No. 8 (or higher) is issued during office hours, the services will continue until all attending applicants present with appointment have been served.

In general, the services will be resumed in 2 hours after the warning signal No. 8 is lowered or cancelled. In case the warning signal is lowered or cancelled within 2 hours before the close of business, services will remain suspended for that day.

2. Black Rainstorm Warning Signal

If Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is issued outside office hours, the services will be suspended while the warning is in force. If the warning signal is subsequently cancelled, the same service resumption arrangement for Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or higher as stated above will be adopted.
If the warning signal is issued during office hours, the services will continue until the close of business.

3. For Those Who Have Made Appointment and Affected by the Above Arrangements

If services of the Office is suspended due to the stated reasons as mentioned above, those applicants affected, who could not complete their application on the original date of appointment, should bring along with them the required supporting documents and application fee when visiting the Office in person in the following 7 working days within office hours after the Office resumes business to conduct the check without the need of making a new appointment or calling the Office to confirm such arrangement.  Applicants should not amend or cancel their original appointment as the Office will need the information to confirm whether the applicant is eligible with this special arrangement.  The waiting time in the Office will inevitably be increased. Applicants are requested to remain patient and understandable.
