Apart from visiting the addiction treatment centre and have a sharing session with inmates, we also learnt more about the harmful effects of drugs while visiting the exhibition room. Group photo at Hei Ling Chau Drug Rehabilitation Centre.

After I had visited Hei Ling Chau Drug Rehabilitation Centre, I changed my perception of drug addicts. The people we met were very nice to us and were willing to talk about the harm drug abuse brought them. We were impressed by their stories and learnt a lot about the harmful effects of taking drugs.

We also took the chance to try the food served there. The food was nice and better than my expectation. The staff of Hong Kong Correctional Services were attentive to the different needs of the inmates.

As a whole, I learnt that drug addicts are not necessarily bad people, especially after they have made up their mind to give up drugs. We should not discriminate against them after they recover and should be supportive to them in starting a new life.
