The Police Dragon Boat Club (PDBC) staged a launching ceremony for their new dragon boat at the marine base in Ma Liu Shui on   May 28, with their Chairman, Hong Kong Island Regional Commander Kwok Yam-shu, and their Honorary Vice-President, Dr Chan Wing-ho, as the officiating guests.

The new dragon boat, which was sponsored by Dr Chan and named after his father, is PDBC's first ever boat which can meet the specifications set out by the International Dragon Boat Federation. Members of PDBC can make use of the new boat for training to enhance their competitiveness. After performing the eye-dotting ritual, Dr Chan together with other paddlers set off the first trip of the new boat in high spirits.

On the other hand, the annual PDBC Charity Race will be held on October 15 and enrolment details are available on the Force Noticeboard. Athletes from all districts and formations are welcome to join and paddle for charity. For enquiries, please contact Mr Fung (Tel: 2814 4218, email: ip-sip-dm-3-bct@police.gov.hk).
