HKI regional sports day

HKI held its 8th annual regional sports day on 23 October at the Police Sports and Recreation Club. In addition to the usual items, a sedan chairs competition was introduced this year to add fun to the event.

After a tight and exciting competition, Central District beat Western District by six points to win the Major Unit Trophy, while EU HKI dominated the Minor Unit Competition again this year.

The Victor Ludorum went to IP Chan Sze-tat of EDIST who won three individual championships. The Victrix Ludorum was WPC Chong Tze-ning, also from EDIST.

Other winners were: in tennis (WDIST & IHQ); in running (EDIST); basketball (WCHDIST); table tennis (WDIST); swimming (EDIST); 7-a-side football (WDIST); shot put (EU HKI); ten pin bowling (T HKI); men's tug of war (CDIST); women's tug of war (EU HKI); squash (CDIST); and Fun Game (EU HKI).

KE regional sports day
MORE than 400 police officers participated in the Kowloon East regional sports day on 16 October. Games included table tennis, tenpin bowling, tug of war, badminton, tennis, squash, 7-a-side football, fun sports and lawn bowls (newly added this year).

Officers from five formations competed for the Minor Unit Trophy, which went to Kowloon East Traffic. Meanwhile, the Major Unit Trophy went to Sau Mau Ping District.

KE teams get ready to go up against each other in a football match

The fun sports promotion relay was held as the last item of the day allowing participants to relax after the keen competition. Officers of different ranks divided into eight groups played in four games, namely: knotted pairs, walking on clouds, the kangaroo jump and back-to-back, heart-to-heart.

ANNUAL HONG KONG POLICE CROSS COUNTRY RACE 98

Takes place on Monday 30, November at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling. Both the men's and women's races start at 10:30am. Registration from 9:30am to 10am. Enquiries: CIP Cheung Wui, CPTI PTS on 2814-4388.

INTER-DISTRICT TENPIN BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP 98/99

Will be held at the PSRC from 16 November to 2 December (preliminary rounds), with a day to be fixed in December for the final. Open to all serving Force members (regulars, auxiliaries, traffic wardens and civilian staff). A Captains' meeting prior to the event will be held at the conference room of the PSRC on 9 November (Monday) at 3:30pm. The maximum entries to this event restricted to 36 teams. POLICE MOTORING CLUB CHINA DRIVE

This very popular annual event will be held from 24 to 27 December during which time members will drive to Yang Jiang near Hainan Island. There are still a limited numbers of vacancies. Interested members, please contact Lui Kwok-yiu on 2352-9344 or 9414-7857.

THE POLICE CUP 98

At the Sha Tin Racecourse on Saturday 19 December. The racing day starts at 1:30pm. The Senior Officers' Mess will once again arrange a private box at the racecourse for members and their guests. DISCOVER MAI PO CHARITY WALK in aid of
WORLD WIDE FUND for NATURE

Formations, clubs or individuals are invited to participate with their families/friends in return for pledging sponsorship money (suggest a minimum of $200 per person, $500 per family). The route is a flat 6K circle from Mai Po Wildlife Education Centre and back (about 2 to 3 hours). Transport to and from Mai Po will be provided by WWF from Sheung Shui KCR station. IP Jim Walker will co-ordinate the Force's participation in the event. Return application forms by 6 November. Contact S&R Division.

LANTAU RACE 1998

The second Lantau Race will be held at 10am on Friday 4, December, on Lantau Island. The challenging 14.5 kilometre course is from Shek Pik Reservoir to Tai O by way of Fan Lau.

Comprising six categories, the first four - men's open, men's veteran, ladies open and team trophy ¡Ð are restricted to serving NTS personnel (regular, auxiliary and civilian); while the last two ¡Ð major formation men's open and major formation ladies ¡Ð invitation ¡Ð are open to all non-NTS personnel.

A registration fee of $60 (cheque payable to: New Territories South Regional AGM Funds) will be levied only for the major formation men's open invitation (a team of three runners from each major formation), and for the major formation ladies' invitation (team of three runners from each major formation).
