On February 25th and 26th, our school joined a two-day-one-night leadership camp in Tai Tong organised by the Wanchai District JPC. The life skills we gained made us grow and solidified.

On day one, our first task was to sit down in a straight line passing messages to the back without speaking or eye contact. We trained up our tacitness and cooperation. That evening, we formed a straight line covering our eyes with blinders except the first and last person of the line who were allowed to see. The leader will lead the line to walk away. After a while, we swapped the leader. This task helped develop our mutual trust and leadership. Obstacles might be minor but only clear instructions from the leader could save us from danger and finish the task. Then, we walked up a hill individually in the dark without any light. This trained up our courage.

On day two, we had a four-level rope course. The first level required two participants cooperating to climb up a ladder with each step of 3/4 a person's height. The rest levels trained our physical strength. Thereafter, participants needed to overcome fear of height by walking on wood planks connected together with thinner ropes.

Although no academic knowledge was gained, the experience we got were useful. The fear in ourselves hinder us from growing, but if you take one step out of your comfort zone, you will gain more than what you sacrificed. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step", if we can take the first step and carry on, we can achieve much more!
