A delegation of six woman officers of Tango Company, led by Superintendent Chui Po-chu, visited the Special Woman Task Team (SWTT) of the Singapore Police Force from October 2 to 4. This was Tango officers' first exchange visit to SWTT, which plays a similar role as Tango, comprising female officers and being an intermediary option for the Singapore Police Force for dealing with passive civil disobediences, protests and demonstrations involving women and children.

During the three-day visit, the delegation, which included Chief Inspector Melinda Fong, Senior Inspector (SIP) Wong Yuet-chi, Sergeants Chan Lai-chu and Chung Ka-fu and Police Constable (PC) Tsang Wing-sum, observed and took part in SWTT officers' annual re-certification training.

For the delegate members, the visit was an eye-opening experience. PC Tsang said: "Not only did I get the chance to share my experience in Tango with our Singapore counterpart, the delegation and the SWTT also discussed each other's day-to-day duties. It was a great experience to see how woman officers in other police forces work."

Echoing PC Tsang's observations, SIP Wong said: "Our Singapore counterpart adopts some similar tactics and techniques as Tango does for dealing with protests and demonstrations involving women and children. As we have more practical experience on the frontline, they took a great interest in what we are doing in handling public order events."

SWTT members, like those of Tango, take up a secondary duty in addition to their normal police work. Two SWTT officers visited the Police Tactical Unit in Fanling in July this year on Tango Platoons' Training Day.
