With the enactment of the newly amended Criminal Procedure Law on January 1 last year, the criminal procedural system on the Mainland has been further enhanced. This would also have a profound impact on the law enforcement work of the public security authorities.

Further to visits last year to the Force, the Prosecutions Division of the Department of Justice, the Government Laboratory and Forensic Pathology Service of the Department of Health, the Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) organised two more expert delegations to Hong Kong to study the criminal proceedings in terms of judicial process, collection of evidence, testimony of expert witnesses, and the technologies used in criminal investigation.

From March 24 to 28 and April 14 to 17, two Deputy Inspector Generals of CIB, Mr An Xiaohui and Mr Sun Jingfeng, respectively led a 35-member delegation to visit Hong Kong.  The delegation members comprised forensic science experts from cities and provinces. As well as Department of Justice, Department of Health and Government Laboratory, the delegations also visited Police units, including Organized Crime and Triad Bureau, Identification Bureau, Liaison Bureau and the mock court of Police College.

During visits to Police Headquarters, the two delegation heads emphasised that MPS, especially CIB, would continue to forge a closer partnership with the Force through various contacts.
