In line with a recommendation made by the "Force Study Team on the Recruitment and Retention of Crime Officers at District Level", Crime Wing has organised overseas and Mainland visits for District Investigation Team (DIT) officers to boost their professionalism in criminal investigation. Another objective of the visits is to enhance the liaison and communication between the Force and its counterparts.

In the first visit in current financial year, Chief Inspector Lam Wing-ho from Tuen Mun District led a delegation of 14 DIT officers from different police districts to visit the Shenyang Municipal Public Security Bureau (PSB) between May 25 and 28.

It was the first time the Shenyang Municipal PSB played host to the DIT officers, who got not only a better understanding of the crime investigation on the Mainland, but also an insight into the policing in Shenyang.

During the visit to the Command and Control Centre of Shenyang Municipal PSB, the delegation members were impressed with the use of closed circuit television systems in crime investigation. They also found very useful the discussion on investigation skills and combat against local crimes with Mainland officers. The delegation members also visited the renowned National Police University of China.

For the delegation members, the visit was an eye-opening experience.  Detective Senior Inspector Lam Hoi-chung commented, "The visit has broadened my knowledge of the policing on the Mainland. The interaction with the experienced officers of Shenyang PSB was particularly useful."
