Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Wong Chi-hung and Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) Chief Superintendent (CSP) Wong Ying-wai officiated at the opening of CCB's redesigned and renovated Counterfeits Exhibition Room (CER) on April 27.

Located on 12/F of Arsenal House West Wing, Police Headquarters, the new CER displays many collection items, including global counterfeit currencies and production equipment; counterfeit Hong Kong coins and paraphernalia; and counterfeit credit cards and machinery. Commencing operation on May 1, it is open to law enforcement agencies, trainees of commercial crime investigation courses and other parties specialising in combating counterfeits.

"The renovation project is an initiative to upgrade the CER to contemporary standards and promote using it for sharing knowledge and experience by trainees, overseas law enforcement agencies and working partners," said CSP Wong.

Visitors to the CER will get a better understanding of a wide range of global counterfeit items and the historical and latest developments of counterfeiting.

Mr Wong pointed out that although the situation of counterfeit banknotes in Hong Kong remained stable, counterfeit currency is an ongoing international threat. "Therefore, enhanced co-operation among stakeholders, sharing of knowledge and experience, and development of a global network to combat counterfeit currency are the common goals we share," he said.
