Over 130 mentors and mentees participated in the Police Mentorship Programme (PMP) 2015/16 Summer Day Camp in the School of Foundation Training of Police College on August 15. They took part in various activities designed to provide more information on the selection processes of Probationary Inspector (PI), including demonstration of the revised physical fitness test, leadership exercise and impromptu talks.

A new element was introduced to the Day Camp this year when a Police Clinical Psychologist from the Psychological Services Group shared with the mentees the subject of "Positivity" with interesting videos, enabling them to appreciate the importance of positive psychology.

PMP Head Mentor, Director of Police College Paul Lau told the mentees, "PMP has been established for 12 years and quite a number of mentees with a high calibre have joined the Force. I believe that through different activities in PMP, you can get a better understanding of the police work, which is a challenging and rewarding lifelong career. I am very pleased with the success of the PMP and hope all of you would get the most out of it."

During the event, two ex-mentees, Chief Inspector Basil Tang and PI Elaine Tse were invited to discuss with the mentees the ways to prepare for PI selection, the challenges and hardship of police training and job satisfaction.

The mentees who had assisted in organising the Day Camp were thankful to the participants: "The Day Camp would not have been so successful without the great support from all mentors and mentees. Through the PMP, we get equipped for the challenges lying ahead."
