The Police Community Relations Office of Lantau District (LTDIST) held a "Cooking Mama Anti-drug Carnival" on August 21 in a bid to promote mutual understanding and communication between local and Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) youngsters. The carnival also provided a platform for both NEC and local residents to showcase their consummate culinary skills and interact with each other while supporting crime prevention.

The carnival, sponsored by the Beat Drugs Fund, comprised anti-drug game stalls and the highlight of the day, "Cooking Mama Cooking Competition", which attracted 20 teams and more than 300 people joining the event. Besides the exciting game stalls, the anti-drug Smart Truck of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals CROSS Centre was also deployed to disseminate anti-drug messages.

The winners of the competition received their prizes from LTDIST Commander, Senior Superintendent (SSP) Chan Joon-sun, Islands District Fight Crime Committee Working Group Chairlady, Ms Yu Lai-fun, LTDIST Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary Presidents Council Chairman, Mr Fong Chi-kei, LTDIST JPC Honorary President, Mr Kwok Kam-kwong, Po On Commercial Association Wan Ho Kan Primary School Principal, Ms Lui Po-sheung, and China Light and Power Regional Relations Manager, Ms Lee Sau-ping.

Speaking at the carnival, SSP Chan said LTDIST had spared no efforts in engaging the community and promoting racial harmony. He described the event as "one stone killing many birds" - promoting interracial cultural exchanges, family cohesiveness and anti-drug messages.
