Yuen Long District (YLDIST) launched Project HIMALAYA in 2013 to help Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) Junior Police Call members brush up their proficiency in Chinese language and arouse their interest in joining the Force with a weekly class and a mentorship programme.

This summer vacation, YLDIST arranged a series of activities to help HIMALAYA mentees develop a healthy lifestyle. As well as Thai boxing and fencing classes, a football match was organised between the mentees and the YLDIST football team. Through the competition, the mentees realized the importance of teamwork. They were also arranged to visit ICAC Headquarters to enhance their anti-corruption concept.

In addition, HIMALAYA mentees were encouraged to participate in YLDIST fight crime campaigns. This summer, they assisted in the prevention of telephone deception and joined a "Technology Crime Prevention Video Competition". They also introduced Project HIMALAYA during station visits by NEC school kids. They have been presented with award certificates for their contributions to the fight against crime.
