Giving a talk as a guest speaker at the Committee Meeting of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC) on January 5, Commissioner Lo Wai-chung introduced the Force's efforts to engage the community, and the focuses in the years to come.

Before an audience of about 90 representatives from various industrial and commercial sectors, Mr Lo began his presentation by introducing the law and order situation in Hong Kong and then dwelt on the crimes of public concerns, including telephone deception and technology crime. He noted, "Although there was a decreasing trend involving telephone deception following our continuous enforcement action in co-operation with the Mainland and overseas law enforcement agencies, the Force will continue to monitor the crime trend and the modus operandi, and mount more publicity and education campaigns when necessary."

Introducing efforts to engage the community, Mr Lo said, "In a bid to address the needs of the community and secure their support, we have expanded our communication platforms with the public. In addition to the 'Hong Kong Police (HKP) Mobile Application' and 'HKP YouTube Channel', we launched the 'HKP Facebook page' last October in a bid to collect public views more effectively and enhance police-community interaction."

Mr Lo went on to introduce the focuses of the Force in the years to come and appealed to the audience for support: "The Force has all along been engaging the community with various means in order to strengthen communication and interaction and forge partnership. I sincerely hope you would support the police in any aspects, especially commercial crime, money laundering and technology crimes, and join hands with the police to ensure Hong Kong remains one of the safest and most stable societies in the world."

After CP's speech, CGCC President, Dr Charles Yeung, praised Force for making a tremendous effort to maintain law and order, and pledged CGCC's continuous support for the Force.
