Traffic New Territories North (T NTN), Road Safety Council, Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (NTN) and MTR Corporation jointly staged an "Attentive Driving Carnival cum Light Rail and MTR Bus Road Safety Campaign" on February 28 to disseminate messages on road safety and attentive driving.

Officiating at the carnival were Acting NTN Regional Commander Tsang Cheung-tat, T NTN Senior Superintendent Martin Cadman, Assistant District Officer (Tuen Mun), Mr William Leung, Head of Operating - West Region of MTR Corporation, Mr Sammy Wong, Chairman of Tuen Mun District Council Traffic and Transport Committee, Mr So Shiu-shing, and Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (NTN) Regional commander, Mr Lai Tin-cheung.

In his opening speech, Mr Tsang said the number of traffic accidents involving injuries in NTN increased slightly in 2015 compared with 2014 and about one third of the fatal accidents had resulted from inattentive drivers. He emphasised that due care should be taken at any time while driving.

Road safety messages were driven home through a series of performances, besides experience sharing sessions on safe driving. On top of display boards and game booths, there were demonstrations of the test devices used by the traffic teams in drug or drink driving cases. Through exhibitions and games, visitors to the carnival understood what a responsible driver should do on the road.
