The Awards Presentation Ceremony for Service Excellence cum Living-the-Values Workshops 20th Anniversary Launching Ceremony took place on April 12. Around 60 winners from different formations received awards for competitions organised by the Force and overseas organisations.

Director of Management Services Li Kin-fai officiated at the ceremony while Assistant Commissioner (Service Quality) Cheuk Hau-yip, Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Tang Ping-keung, Police College Deputy Director 2, Dr Cheng Tak-ming, and Operations Wing Senior Superintendent Lee Kiu-ki presented various awards.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Li thanked the award winners for their efforts and contributions and pointed out that their active participation and the support of their Formation Commanders, colleagues and family members continued to enhance the quality of police services both internally and externally. "There're many talented and creative officers within the Force," he noted.

The number of officers who participated in the Police Staff Suggestions Scheme this year is higher than that of last year and most of their suggestions are practical. Among the 19 projects held last year under the Police Staff Motivation Scheme, the awards for "Prudent Financial Management - Folk Poetry Competition" organised by Personnel Wing and "Police Dog Trial Poster and Ticket Design Competition" organised by Police Dog Unit were presented at the ceremony.

In addition, two international awards were presented at the ceremony. Service Quality Wing (SQW) was presented with the Honourable Recognition awarded by the Association for Strategic Planning at its annual Richard Goodman Strategic Planning Award held in the United States in March. The award compliments the Force for developing an advanced risk management system for its strategic planning process. The Force is the first organisation in Hong Kong to clinch this prestigious international award.

At the same time, the Emotional Fitness Training package developed by Police College has won the Honours Award of the Mercury Excellence Awards this year after capturing a gold award of the 2015 Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme.

LTV Workshops mark 20th Anniversary

To mark the Living-the-Values (LTV) Workshops' 20th anniversary, SQW held an anniversary launching ceremony on the same day following the Awards Presentation Ceremony for Service Excellence, with Mr Li and Major Formation Commanders officiating.

The Force rolled out the LTV Workshops in 1997 for enhancing officers' awareness of the Force values and helping them practise the values. So far, a total of eight waves of the LTV workshops have been held.

Taking into consideration various Force surveys and review results of the LTV Wave VIII as well as officers' views, the Force has set the theme of the LTV Workshops Wave IX as "Fairness, Impartiality and Compassion in all our Dealings".

Submissions are now called for competitions on headline and poster design and micro film production. Winning entries might be adopted for training packages for officers. Details of the competitions have been uploaded onto the SQW's intranet web page.
