To tie in with the start of the new school year, the traffic formations stepped up publicity to remind school drivers and students of the importance of observing traffic regulations.

Superintendent of Traffic Branch (Administration) Yip Siu-ming conducted a joint media briefing on student road safety with a principal of a kindergarten in Kwun Tong on August 30. He explained the causations of traffic accidents involving students and announced the commencement of a three-day publicity campaign on student road safety from September 1.

On the same day, Traffic New Territories North (T NTN) Region held the third seminar at its Regional Headquarters with a view to disseminating driving safety messages to 30 school bus drivers prior to the start of the academic year. After the delivery of a welcome speech by Superintendent (Investigation & Support) of NTN Chau Chung-mun, the officers of the Enforcement and Control Division and other road safety groups shared safe driving tips with the audience.

On the other hand, the Road Safety Team of T NTN distributed road safety leaflets to cross-boundary students at boundary control points and schools in the first week of September.
