Traffic New Territories North (T NTN), in collaboration with the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (HKRSP) and the MTR Corporation Limited, kicked off the Elderly and Youth Pedestrian Road Safety Campaign cum Light Rail and MTR Bus Road Safety Campaign at Yuen Long Theatre on September 21 to boost elderly and youth pedestrians' road safety awareness.


Officiating at the event included District Officer (Yuen Long) Mr Mak Chun-yu, Senior Superintendent of T NTN Lee Chi-wai, Acting Divisional Commander of Yuen Long Division Leung Chi-hang, NTN Regional Commander of HKRSP Mr Lai Tin-cheung, Operations Manager (Light Rail and Buses) of the MTR Corporation Mr Kevin Kiang and Chairman of the Traffic and Transport Committee of Yuen Long District Council Mr Ching Chan-ming.


Speaking to over 1 000 participants in the event, Mr Lee stressed that pedestrians should pay full attention to traffic conditions and refrain from using distracting objects such as mobile phones or other electronic devices when crossing roads.


Meanwhile, T NTN also held a Road Safety Seminar for professional drivers at NTN Regional Headquarters on September 27. The participants were motor fleet drivers and senior management staff of the Federation of Hong Kong Transport Worker Organizations, China Hong Kong and Macau Boundary Crossing Bus Association, Hong Kong Guangdong Boundary Crossing Bus Association, several cross-boundary and local bus companies, a minibus company, a logistics company and two fast food restaurant groups.


The seminar covered messages of safe driving and attentive driving, causes of traffic accidents and rules of using roundabouts. The seminar received high applause from the participants as they found the messages practical.
